How were you diagnosed with celiac disease?

Another method that should be listed here is elimination diet. I was diagnosed when a naturopath suggested I try taking wheat out of my diet. Immediately I felt that 50 lb weights had been taken off my limbs. Then I didnt eat wheat for 6 months. When I finally did, I got immediately sick with food poisoning symptoms and then pneumonia and ear infections.

I was actually diagnosed through my endoscopy. It was confirmed with the blood test.

My doctor insisted on the endoscopy as I was very anemic. He suspected internal bleeding.

That was 3 1/2 years ago. My repeat endoscopy last August (my third) showed marked improvement in my villi.

I have dermatitis herpetiformis. My celiac disease was diagnosed with a biopsy of the blisters that broke out on my skin. Some forget that this is celiac disease too, not just intestinal. My doctor did say that if they biopsied my colon they would find it in there too.

My son was diagnosed by my uncle, a chiropractor, who uses kinesiology (muscle-testing the body's energy and weaknesses). I told him about my son's tantrums and extreme anger and he tested him for a bunch of things, narrowed it to food, then narrowed it to grains, then wheat as the culprit. After keeping him off wheat for several weeks we could see a 180 in his personality--huge difference. He's not the same boy anymore.

By the way, my uncle also diagnosed my husband and I as being allergic to corn--my symptoms were itchy skin bubbles and rashes; my husband had aching joints and stomache pain. Both went away once we quit corn.

I was diagnosed by the same Dr. who missed it fifteen years before. I almost didn't go back, but I'am glad I did. I have never felt better.
