Are there different degrees of tolerance for gluten? A friend of mine becomes very ill with the least bit of ingestion of gluten. I, on the other hand, have no adverse symptoms when I "cheat" by mistake or sometimes by design. Anyone else affected this way?

Tolerance Does Vary
It is not unusual for some people with celiac disease to show little or no reaction when they are exposed to gluten. In my observations it seems that very often the people who were having the most severe health problems before they were diagnosed are often the people who have the most severe reactions to a gluten exposure.
Don't let this lull you into a false sense of security. If you continue to ingest gluten, whether you are aware of a reaction or not, you greatly increase the chances that you will develop serious complications later on. The most severe of these possible consequences is cancer. It killed my mother, who did not want to be bothered changing her diet.
If you have been diagnosed with celiac disease it is imperative that you stick as closely as possible to a strictly gluten free diet. It does get a lot easier as time goes by, thankfully.
Thanks for bringing this up.

Sticking to it
Thanks Steve. I will definitely endeavour to remove all gluten items from my diet. It really takes a long time to shop tho'. Hopefully, better labeling of foods will help.
